10-Day Uganda Itinerary

This is a suggested road itinerary with a pre-arranged driver, an arrival day and a separate departure day. It is a planning example, not a live tour offer or a statement that every route is currently suitable for travel. Check the current safety guide and government advice before committing.

Reserve the trekking date and sector before choosing the Bwindi lodge. Road-day allowances below include room for stops and delays; ask your driver for an estimate between the exact properties. Avoid adding an international departure to the end of a long road transfer.

Rest after arrival and confirm the driver, booked activities and lodge sequence. Keep the first evening free so a delayed international arrival does not disrupt a paid park activity.

Head west and settle into your chosen Kibale or Fort Portal base. Your accommodation should suit the next day’s chimpanzee reporting point, not just the town name on a booking listing.

Keep the booked tracking session as the day’s main activity. Confirm the reporting time and location with the operator. Leave the rest of the day flexible for rest or a separately arranged local walk.

Transfer to a base selected for the park activities you have booked. Confirm current access and the relevant government advice before including this part of the route. Treat an arrival-day game drive as optional.

Use a dedicated park day for the activities confirmed in your booking, such as a game drive and a Kazinga Channel boat outing. Confirm separate charges and meeting times. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.

Travel to the lodge serving your gorilla permit sector. A stop in Ishasha is not assumed: it depends on your starting point, sector, current access and available daylight. Protect arrival at the correct lodge.

Reserve the whole day for the trek and a quiet return to the lodge. Carry the documents and equipment requested by the current briefing. Keep this overnight in the same place so a longer walk does not turn into a rushed departure.

Start the journey back east with a stopover. This protects the route from becoming a single long final drive followed immediately by an international flight.

Complete the return and keep an airport-area overnight. Avoid adding Jinja or a long Kampala detour when the purpose of this day is to create margin before departure.

Arrange the airport transfer around your airline’s check-in requirements. Add a night if the international timetable needs it rather than removing the pre-flight buffer.

If the safari segment is unsuitable under current advice or access conditions, remove it and use the time for a slower primate-focused trip. Reconfirm permits and accommodation before changing dates.

If gorillas are the only priority, the seven-day route is a simpler starting point. If you want Murchison Falls, Kidepo or several additional regions, add days or replace a major part of this circuit; do not stack them onto the same nine nights.

Ask for an itemised quote rather than comparing headline package prices. State your dates, group size, room sharing and visitor category. A permit is only one part of the total; a cheaper lodge can become poor value if it adds a long transfer to the trailhead.
